He is a light technician at La Gare in Antwerp, and studies to be a fashion designer at the school of KASK in Gent.
He has done his first fashion show, so this is the perfect moment for me today to talk to him about fashion, inspiration, shows, etc.
He truly feels at home at the KASK academy in Ghent, because here they are focusing more on where the designer gets his or her inspiration from.
His first design is an abstract white skirt.
For this design he had to search inspiration in a certain element of a country.
He found his inspiration with pre-columbian South-America, which entails the landscape.
The skirt itself was inspired by a corn cob.
The second design is a jeans outfit with red striped details.
The design is patchwork art.
He took his inspiration from aviation, bullets, etc.
The outfit looks like some sort of harness with a matching helmet and looks super tough.
This third design has the most interesting yellow and orange jacket.
He let himself be inspired by abstract art and forms.
The jacket looks like a wearable tent, with the zipper giving a fascinating detail.
The oversized jacket looks very fascinating and on trend with the earthly shades of brown and orange at the sleeves and a brighter more vibrant combination at the front.
I ask him who inspires him the most as a designer.
He first name he answers me is Rick Owens, and he spontaneously shows me a pair of shoes by the designer he bought a while ago.
Ann Demeulemeester is also one of the designers he is inspired by.
also people like Pharrell Williams inspired him in the past.
Fashion for him doesn’t necessarily mean Gucci or Louis Vuitton.
"Fashion is a bit more artistic then that" he says, "and playing with abstract forms is part of that.”
A lot of these fashion houses also get their inspiration from other designers."
He hopes to design mainly for males, and try and reach a creative group of people.
He doesn’t want to reach a specific group of people, but does see himself working at a company that is thinking more outside the box.
